Dollar Strolls Return To Baltimore Avenue

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Summer's here, so Philadelphia's University City District will hold the first of its Baltimore Avenue strolls this Thursday.

Beginning this Thursday, from 5:30pm to 830pm, along Baltimore Avenue between 42nd and 50th Streets, there'll be festivities, music and dollar specialties at 15 businesses along the avenue.  Many items include specialty drinks and food, but Lori Brennan, director of marketing and communications for the University City District, says you might just be surprised at what you find.

"You know, they're not doing this to make money," Brennan says. "They're not going to make money selling dollar items. In fact, some of them are losing money, but the reason they do it is to band together with their fellow businesses and to just get the exposure and get the name out there."

There are also strolls on July 7th, August 4th and September 1st.  For more info, go to UniversityCity.org/DollarStroll2011.
