Delaware To Conduct Annual Dolphin Count
NASSAU, Del. (AP) -- Delaware's Marine Education and Rehabilitation Institute conducting its annual dolphin count.
This year's count takes place Saturday. Spotters will be at 32 locations from the southern tip of Fenwick Island to Woodland Beach near Smyrna.
Volunteers can help spot dolphins and record weather and water conditions as well as animal and human activity that could affect dolphins.
Delaware beaches mark one of the northernmost areas visited by Atlantic Bottlenose dolphins. MERR Executive Director Suzanne Thurman says about 400 dolphins were spotted during last year's count.
