PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The robotics programs at five Philadelphia schools are getting a corporate boost.

At an assembly at Wilson Middle School in the Northeast on Wednesday, a representative of Amazon presented $12,000 to the School District.

Five schools -- Munoz-Marin, Jenks, Masterman, Edison and Wilson will get $2,000 each to continue or start robotics programs.

Wilson principal Stefanie Ressler says her school will use the cash to launch an after-school robotics program for about 25 students.

"This is especially appreciated because this is the first time that we've had the opportunity to bring robotics into a neighborhood school like Wilson," Ressler said.

And she says Amazon isn't the only one making a donation.

"The teacher doing the robotics club is doing it without any pay," Ressler explained.

The remaining $2,000 will buy a competition field kit for schools to share.
