College Basketball: Temple Hopeful For Fernandez's Return
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Temple will be at home on Wednesday to host St. Bonaventure.
The Owls are 11-3 after beating St. Louis on Sunday, 57-53 (see story). The Owls won without the services of junior point guard Juan Fernandez, who missed the game with a bruised left knee.
Temple head coach Fran Dunphy spoke to KYW Newsradio on Tuesday morning about Fernandez's status.
"The doctors would say it's day-to-day," Dunphy said. "I think the realistic approach here is he is going to have to be very careful about when he does rejoin us. Can it happen tomorrow? Maybe. I don't know that that's realistic, but we'll see. That's what the hope is, but each and every day he is getting better."
Fernandez started in all of the Owls' first 13 games, and is averaging 11 points and 3.9 assists per contest.
Temple is now ranked 19th in the country.
