Cloyd Replaces Halladay On Mound For Phillies

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia pitcher Tyler Cloyd will take the mound Tuesday night in place of an ill Roy Halladay as the Phillies open a three-game series against the San Diego Padres.

Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg says Halladay is experiencing flu-like symptoms. Halladay will start on Thursday.

Cloyd will make his first start since being recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. In eight games and seven starts this season with Philadelphia, the right-hander is 2-3 with a 3.57 ERA.

His last major league appearance came in relief on Aug. 24, when he threw five shutout innings in an 18-inning loss to Arizona.
