Cleaning Woman Accused Of Main Line Theft Appears In Court

MARPLE Twp., Pa. (CBS) -- The former cleaning woman accused of ripping off several of her Main Line employers took the stand in her own defense and laid the blame for the thefts at the feet of her estranged husband, a police officer in Delaware County.

Kimberly Williams told the jury that her estranged husband, Barry, a Marple Township police officer, helped her clean some of the homes and had access to them.

She replied "absolutely not" several times when her attorney asked her if she stole any items from the homes in Lower Merion and Delaware County.

The 45-year-old woman testified that Adam Kaplan, who died of cancer two years ago, gave her a valuable baseball memorabilia collection, telling her to sell it and use the money for her children.

She testified they took a Disney vacation. She also told the court her husband had the means and motive to frame her after she filed for a protection from abuse order. Williams broke down on the stand under intense cross-examination from the prosecutor.
