Chester County Lawmakers Press for Turnpike EZPass Ramp

A Chester County state senator says delays in a Pennsylvania Turnpike project are threatening the vitality of the region's economy.

KYW's Tony Romeo reports the issue is construction of a Turnpike EZPass-only "slip ramp" interchange at Route 29. Appearing before the state Senate Transportation Committee, representatives of some of Chester County biggest businesses appealed for movement on the project.

Just before that, Chester County Democratic Senator Andrew Dinniman underscored the need as he pressed Turnpike officials:

"We have people who are considering not remaining in Chester County."

Turnpike CEO Joseph Brimmeier said progress is being made toward resolving differences with local officials over the slip ramp and a related project to widen the Turnpike:

"We will get this ironed out. I feel very comfortable with it. And we want to move forward and I think we will be doing that soon."

Brimmeier said he was optimistic after a productive meeting this past week with county and municipal officials.
