CBS Sports' Matt Moore: Sixers #3 In Offseason Power Rankings

By Spike Eskin

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – If you'll remember, before the trade for Andrew Bynum, David Aldridge of NBA.COM said that the Sixers had the second best offseason in basketball. That seemed a little crazy to all of us.

Matt Moore of CBS Sports says the Sixers had the third best offseason in the league, but post Bynum trade, it seems to make more sense.

3. Philadelphia 76ers: The Sixers are like that friend who was living a safe, comfortable life as an accountant, nice two-bedroom townhouse in the burbs, driving a Volvo. Then one day he ups and starts his own business. Maybe he'll fail, but at least he tried. That's the Sixers, who swung for Andrew Bynum. Their other moves weren't even really good overall. But Bynum was a gamechanger and a bold move. They get points for that.

It's hard to disagree with the team Moore has ranked #1, the Lakers. I do take some issue with the Nets at the #2 spot though. I was ready to be alright with taking on that big Joe Johnson contract, as long as it was followed up with a Dwight Howard chaser. Brook Lopez and Kris Humphries are nice players, but they are not Dwight Howard.

Whatever the ranking, to have national NBA writers handing out kudos to a Sixers offseason is a welcome change.
