Cat Rescued In Dramatic Fashion By PECO Worker
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - After a dramatic rescue, a cat that was stuck high on a telephone pole for four days is headed to a better life.
Officials say the cat was dropped off in front of the Pennsylvania SPCA, located at 350 E. Erie Ave., by an unknown person on September 9th. Shortly thereafter, a dog being brought into the facility startled the cat, causing it to run up the 40-foot utility pole.
SPCA representatives gave the cat time to come down on its own, then tried to lure it down with food to no avail. Due to the danger involved, they were eventually forced to call PECO for assistance.

According to SPCA officials, a PECO line mechanic was able to scoop the cat into a net while SPCA staff members stood on with blankets and nets ready in case the cat fell.
Sparky, the name given to the cat by SPCA staff, is recuperating and will be available for adoption once she has recovered.
