Campus Philly Launches Online Internship Fair
By John Ostapkovich
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - College students looking for an internship, and firms needing interns, need look no further than a website.
As part of its mission to attract, engage and retain students from the area's many colleges, Campus Philly has its online internship fair, currently accepting entries from students and employers.
Campus Philly's president, Deborah Diamond, says internships vary with the economy, so it's no surprise what's in big demand.
"Anything to do with programming, data base management, those kinds of internships, students have a much easier time getting and employers have a much harder time finding students, because it's a very typical interest on the employers' side. Other kinds of internships are more challenging for students to get."
Diamond says there are two big internship categories: "If there are paid internships, then the employer can use the intern for a wide variety of purposes. If they're unpaid, then there are requirements that the employer will have to learn about from the student, that the school requires for the student to accomplish so the student can get credit for the internship."
Matchups will occur the week of February 20th.
