BLOG: A Mild Valentine's Day

By Justin Drabick

This time of year has had some historic snowstorms in the Delaware Valley. Not this year. The overall weather pattern allows for milder temperatures and no big storms. Our average high temperature right now is 42 degrees but will be well above that for Valentine's Day. There will be some clouds and it will be windy with a cold front approaching, but highs will be in the 50s. However, it will feel a bit cooler because of the wind.

With this time of year being notorious for snowstorms, we wondered how often it has reached the 50s for Valentine's Day. We looked at each Valentine's Day all the way back to the year 1873 and found that there has been 28 Valentine's Day greater than 50 degrees. That is not very high number and it comes out to about 15%. It looks like this year's Valentine's Day will be number 29.
