Black Friday: Bargain-Hunters Out In Full Force On Busiest Shopping Day Of Year
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Black Friday is the opening day of the holiday shopping season, and shoppers were out in full force early Friday morning hunting for bargains! It's the busiest shopping day of the year.
There are sales at the malls, at the factory outlets, on Main Street and online.
The National Retail Federation says the average American will spend about $700 on holiday gifts and other goodies this year.
A spokeswoman for the Cherry Hill Mall says there were about 30,000 shoppers on Thursday and businesses expect to see those same numbers on Friday, which is about average this time of year.
Internet sales are expected to rise by about 14% this year from last year, according to Adobe Analytics, which tracks internet sales.
