Authorities Probing 3 Deadly Shootings In Camden

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities in southern New Jersey are probing a recent spate of deadly shootings in Camden.

Thirty-year-old Vernon Hicks was shot just before midnight Thursday as he was standing outside in the 1500 block of North Collings Avenue. The Camden resident was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Camden County Prosecutor Warren Faulk says Hicks was the third person gunned down in the city in the past three days. No arrests have been made so far, and authorities are working to determine motives for the shootings.

Overall, 41 people have been murdered in the county this year, including 34 in the city.
