Authorities Identify Body Of Teen Found Dead In North Philadelphia
UPPER DARBY, Pa. (CBS) -- Police have identified the body of a teen, found dead in North Philadelphia Friday night, as an Upper Darby boy who had been missing.
Fifteen-year-old Xavier Stern was found shot and killed inside a Lincoln Town Car near Broad and York Streets.
Upper Darby police superintendent Michael Chitwood said Stern had been missing for nearly three weeks before his body was discovered.
"According to the father, there was some type of verbal dispute between Xavier and himself," Chitwood said.
That was back on November 22, and it's when Stern took off.
"The father didn't report him missing until December the 10th," Chitwood said.
Police said Stern was on probation at the time of his disappearance, and cut off his ankle bracelet before he left.
"He was involved in an incident back in March of this year," Chitwood said, "where he alledgely pistol-whipped another young man."
The teen was found with a gunshot wound on the left side of his head. Authorities say they did not find any ballistic evidence, and there was no gun at the scene.
Philadelphia homicide detectives are investigating.
