Area Restaurant Workers Getting A Bump From Phillies' Playoffs

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Phillies seem to be boosting business in and around the city, and it seems that folks in the restaurant industry are especially thankful for the team's success.

Why?  People who work in the Philadelphia restaurant industry say that when the Phillies play, they do better economically:

"It's pretty much guaranteed business; people want to go out and sit at the bar and watch the Phillies and order some beers and eat some food."

Waitresses and bartenders tell me the tips are better, too:

"When there's Phillies games on, everybody comes in for the game, so that really boosts our business a lot."

"It helps us. Our staff gets pumped, our customers are pumped, and so all together it makes for a really good night."

And that pumps in more money?

"Absolutely, it does!"

They say they do enjoy the Phillies because they are fans themselves, but from an economic perspective they'd like to see the playoffs drawn out as long as possible:

"From a sales perspective, the longer it drags out, the better it is for us."
