APNewsBreak: Ethics Watchdog Says Kane Harms Law Enforcement

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania's attorney ethics office says the state Supreme Court should suspend Attorney General Kathleen Kane's law license to stop her from inflicting damage to the administration of justice.

An Aug. 25 petition by the Office of Disciplinary Counsel — previously under seal — was obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press.

The agency argues it's a conflict of interest for Kane to continue practicing law while she's the subject of a criminal prosecution.

She's facing perjury and other charges for allegedly leaking information from a 2009 grand jury probe and then lying under oath.

The disciplinary office says her failure to order an investigation once the leak occurred is evidence of her conflict of interest.

Kane has denied wrongdoing. She says suspending her license pending her trial would violate her right to due process.
