PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Jeff Lurie surprised most of the media, and appeased many fans, when he said another 8-8 season from Andy Reid will likely cost him his job. Reid thinks Lurie's got the right idea.

"I'm right with him. I'm right with him," Reid told 94WIP's Angelo Cataldi and The WIP Morning Show on Wednesday. "We're shooting for better than 8-8. And so, that's our goal. Our goal is to win championships. That's what we're striving for and that's why we work hard and spend the time doing it. So I'm on board, I understand. I understand the business, I got a great relationship with Jeff Lurie and so I don't worry about all that. I worry about the things we can control and that's getting better as a football team everyday."

Most agree that the key to the Eagles success this year lies with Michael Vick, both in ability to avoid turnovers, and his health. Reid says he's not concerned with Vick altering his play to stay healthy. ""I don't really worry about that. I want him to just play and be himself," he said. "There is a time and a place where he knows he has to get down or get out of bounds, but other than that you go play. That's what made you great. You play a certain way and you go for it. In this game, if you asked any player, you got to catch a couple breaks here and there with the injury bug. Hopefully this is his year where he does that."

Odds released from Bovada set the over/under for Michael Vick starts in 2012 is 14 (see related story). He's averaged just under 13 in seasons he's entered as the starter.

If Vick does go down, the Eagles have a different backup than originally expected. Mike Kafka seemed like the player most likely to backup Vick, but rookie Nick Foles won the job with an impressive preseason. "He has got a lot of gigabytes and he's not gonna run out of them," Reid said about Foles. "He can digest a whole lot of things that you throw at him and then go out and produce. He hasn't played in a regular season game yet, so you can't give him everything yet, but the things that he has been given and presented, he's done well against. I'd expect him to continue to grow."
