Ancestry Fair in Buxco Helps Attendees Trace Family Roots
BENSALEM (KYW NEWSRADIO 1060) -- If you've been thinking about tracing your family roots but don't know where to start, there's a free event Saturday in Bucks County that will help you get started.
KYW's Brad Segall reports that "Visit Bucks County" and the Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania are teaming up for the fourth annual Ancestry Fair. There will be numerous workshops and speakers talking about how you can begin the process of tracing your family's heritage and how to begin documenting your family history.
Society vice president Susan Koelble says interest in genealogy has been spiking over the last several years:
"Some people do it because they've heard family stories about the old country. Some people do it because they want to join a hereditary society. Some people do it because they want to learn about their medical history, and some people are just downright nosy."
She says programs like "Roots" and the recent "Who Do You Think You Are" generate interest. The fair will be held from 9 AM until 7 PM at the Bucks County Visitors Center in Bensalem.
