A Festival To Raise Money And Have A Barking Good Time

By Kristen Johanson

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The South Philadelphia Association of Dog Owners hosted a "Dog Day Afternoon" to benefit a good cause Sunday.

Mishana brought her fur baby, Maggie to Columbus Square, just after it drizzled, things got a little dirty.

"Maggie is having an awesome day." said Mishanna. "She is like a pig in mud today, literally.

For Melissa's puppy Blue, nothing is better than treats and games.

"We got to play tennis ball and be off leash, which is like Nirvana to a dog." said Melissa.

It was $10 a dog, and was part of a fundraising efforts to expand the square's dog park.

Harley's parents, Shannon and Brett couldn't have found a better way to spend the hot afternoon.

People think dogs are just pets but once you have them for a while, but once you have them for a while, they become like your child, like your little baby." said Brett. "So you really want to treat them to a day out, and let them have a little fun."
