Police ID Victims Of Accident In Burlington County

SOUTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, N.J., (CBS) – New Jersey State Police say two people, including a 2-year-old, are dead and two others are injured after they were struck by a vehicle in Southampton Township, Burlington County Tuesday night.

According to police, the victims were pulling a wagon along Buddtown Road just before 8:30 p.m. when they were struck by a BMW sedan, operated by a 37-year-old driver.

Officials say there are no sidewalks, shoulders or street lights on that stretch of the road.

Police say at the time of the accident, an 18-year-old was pulling a two-year-old and six-year-old in a wagon, while an eight-year-old was walking next to them.

Authorities say two-year-old Jyonsheil Martinez was taken to Virtua Hospital in Mount Holly where he was later pronounced dead.

Police say the other victims were flown to Cooper Hospital in Camden where 18-year-old Jairisa Galindo was pronounced dead on Wednesday at 10:15 p.m.

The rest of the victims are listed in critical condition.

Officials say a 13-year-old was with the group, but was not struck. She was walking off of the roadway in the grass.

Police say the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

According to investigators, it appears the driver was going the speed limit.

No criminal charges are pending, police say.

The details and circumstances of the crash are under investigation.
