Simplifying 4 Playoff Scenarios For The Eagles

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Eagles, Redskins, and Giants are all tied atop the NFC East at 6-7 with three games to play. Here are the remaining schedules.

Philadelphia Eagles: vs. ARZ, vs. WAS, at nyg

Washington Redskins: vs. BUF, at phi, at dal

New York Giants: vs. CAR, at min, vs. PHI

Let's breakdown the different scenarios that would propel the Eagles into the postseason, from most to least optimistic.

4. Eagles go 3-0

They win the division.

3. Eagles go 2-1

  • If the loss is vs. ARZ, they win division
  • If the loss is vs. WAS, the Redskins must lose both of their other two games
  • If the loss is at nyg, the Giants must lose one of their other two games

2. Eagles go 1-2

  • If the win is vs. ARZ, cannot win division
  • If the win is at nyg, cannot win division
  • If the win is vs. WAS, Redskins must lose one of their other two games, Giants must lose to Panthers and Vikings, and Cowboys must lose once

1. Eagles go 0-3

Run.

In summary, the here are the Eagles' remaining three games in order of importance:

  1. Saturday, December 26th vs. Redskins
  2. Sunday, January 3rd at Giants
  3. Sunday, December 20th vs. Cardinals

A playoff birth likely means the No. 4 seed in the NFC and a home-game against...the...Seattle Seahawks. Gulp.
