NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - It's the second day of the new year and the second day of that New Year's resolution taking hold.
WCBS 880's Jim Smith got some advice for getting back on track if you don't keep your resolution.
Experts say it's OK to have a resolution fail.
Tips For Getting Your New Year's Resolution Back On Track
"Knowing that we're fallible and that life gets in the way sometimes," Dr. Simon Rego, director of psychology training at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, told Smith. "We know in the back of our heads that at some point, we're going to slip."
He said the plan to deal with those failures is key.
"How we'll coach ourselves rather than beat ourselves up, what our action plan will be to get back on track," said Dr. Rego.
He said it's important to make sure your resolutions are realistic and attainable. And he added when you do stumble, you don't have to wait until next year to try again.
"Literally, a new year can start every single day," Dr. Rego told Smith.
