Shocking Video: Woman Violently Attacked, Robbed In Driveway Of Mastic Home

MASTIC, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Two men were caught on camera attacking a Long Island woman and stealing her rental car right from her driveway.

Suffolk County police are looking for three suspects, CBS2's Jenna DeAngelis reported Tuesday.

Cries for help were captured on home surveillance cameras. A woman, exiting her rental car, is seen getting chased by two men who throw her to the ground right in front of her Mastic home.

Her dog is seen pacing back and forth.

Police said one man struck the 66-year-old in the head with a metal object before they took her keys and drove off.

"She was pretty shaken up," neighbor Adam Cozell said.

Cozell witnessed some of the ordeal, but saw the video for the first time on Tuesday.

The incident started as he was driving home Saturday at around 5:40 p.m. He said he turned on to Burney Boulevard when a red Infiniti cut him off.

"The Infiniti came through the stop sign and almost hit me. I was behind him, I gave him brights. He turned around right here. I pulled in the driveway. I figured nothing of it," Cozell said.

That is, until he heard screams from his neighbor's home and saw that same car in front of it.

"By the time I ran over, they were going across the lawn with her car already. It had to have been premeditated because the way they did it was within 20 seconds the whole thing was done," Cozell said.

Police said the men stole the woman's rented gray Nissan Sentra with New Jersey license plate B38 NCZ, but investigators believe a third man was involved, driving the red Infiniti.

Both cars got away.

The incident shocked neighbors.

"It was appalling to say the least. I mean, to pretty much brutally attack someone like that just getting out of their vehicle. It's a little concerning," Jennifer Elton said.

"It's really scary. It's just not something that has ever happened over here," Erik Young added.

"Something out of a movie, especially in this area," Cozell said.

DeAngelis spoke to the victim off camera and as you can imagine she was shaken by the whole experience. She was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where she was checked for a concussion. Fortunately, she's doing fine.

The two men who approached the woman are believed to be in their 20s or 30s. Police did not give a description of the third suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call Suffolk County police at (631) 852-8752 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. Calls can be made anonymously to Crime Stoppers and will be kept confidential.
