Sen. Murphy Touts Smooth Implementation Of State's Health Insurance Marketplace
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (CBSNewYork) - Three weeks into the implementation of the individual mandate aspect of the Affordable Care Act, Connecticut residents have been flocking to sign up for the state's health insurance marketplace.
Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy on Wednesday visited two health care centers in New Haven and Hartford to see how the sign-up process has been going.
As WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau reported, Nancy Carpenter is one of several facilitators working at the Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center.

She said unlike the federal website healthcare.gov, the state marketplace has for the most part been operating smoothly.
"Looking at the news, all the problems that the federal website is having, I think it's maybe, I don't know what's causing that. But the Access Health CT seems to be OK," Carpenter told Schneidau.
Carpenter said she did run into an issue while helping a man register.
"When we went into the system to do the actual application, somehow it took away all of his cost-saving reductions and it wound up where it said his plan was going to be $500 and something a month," but should have been a lot less.
Sen. Murphy said the state's rollout has been better than expected due in part, he said, to the number of facilitators on hand to assist residents.
He added there's no excuse that healthcare.gov was not ready to go for its Oct. 1 rollout.
