NYC Dads Group Serves As 'Dadternity' For Stay-At-Home Fathers

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - One group highlights the role of dad on this Father's Day.

Lance Somerfeld of NYC Dads Group sat down with CBS 2's Cindy Hsu to discuss parenting tips and ways to optimize daddy-baby time.

"There are so few resources for dads out there in general," Somerfeld told Hsu.

He said he started the group in Nov. 2008 as he was about to become a stay-at-home father and wanted to have a network of fellow dads to socialize with.

NYC Dads logged its 800th member just this weekend.

The group offers new dad boot camps for first-time fathers in addition to other tips for parents.

Somerfeld said the group offers a "dadternity" for fathers to have a place to share experiences or just to vent about the stresses of being a parent.
