New Haven Line Fare Hike Still A Possibility Despite Union Concessions
GREENWICH, CT (WCBS 880) - Higher fares are always a possibility, but many believed they were off the table for the New Haven Line when the state's unions decided to play ball in a package of concessions for the state budget.

Those union concessions helped to avoid thousands of layoffs.
But it turns out that the Connecticut Department of Transportation is still evaluating things, which was a surprise to riders at the Cos Cob station in Greenwich on Thursday morning.
"News to me," said one person.
"New york raised the fares two years ago and Connecticut didn't. As far as I'm concerned, we're probably overdue, but the reason he's [Gov. Dan Malloy] doing it versus union concessions is flawed," said another rider.
A small hike was expected to pay for new M-8 rail cars, but how much this hike will be, if it happens, is still a mystery.
A series of public hearings were held on the issue back in August.
