This East Village staple has been serving Ukrainian food since 1954. The restaurant offers Ukrainian comfort food like sauerkraut and mushroom pierogies (four for $6.95) and stuffed cabbage ($15.75). If you're looking for diner food, Veselka also offers the standard pancakes, burgers, eggs and hot coffee. Veselka is open 24 hours a day, and bustling for most of that time. Be prepared to wait if you show up with a large group.

This Latin diner, open 24 hours, is headed up by Julian Medina of Toloache fame. The diner is a stone's throw from the trendy Meatpacking District, and offers refined but casual Cuban food. The nachos are a must order any time of night, priced at $8.95. Thick, crisped chips are topped with Gouda-Muenster cheese, black beans, jalapeno, chopped beef short ribs, guacamole and crema . If you're going for cheese, try the mac and chicharron for $9.95. Gooey mac and cheese is served with pork belly, fried pork rinds chicharron and chili pepper sauce sambal.
