Islanders Fan: Angry Al Trautwig Called My Mom!

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Fair warning: speak ill of MSG host Al Trautwig on Twitter, and he may just track you down.

A New York Islanders fan named Yehuda -- and his mother -- found that out after this little exchange:
Trautwig apparently then did some sleuthing and called what he thought was Yehuda's phone number. He reached Yehuda's mother instead, who informed the MSG host that her son no longer lives stateside. He's in Israel -- and has been for years.

Trautwig Calls A 'Fan'

"I woke up to my mother calling me around 7 o'clock in the morning here, midnight in the states, saying, 'Do you have a friend named Al? Like, Al Trautwig? He said that you wrote something about him on Twitter,'" Yehuda told WFAN radio's Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton on Thursday. "I'm like, 'Are you serious?'"

She asked Trautwig if he'd like Yehuda's current number.

"He told my mother, 'Don't worry about it, I'll find him,'" Yehuda said. "I've been walking around Jerusalem looking behind me all day."

His mother is taking it in stride too: "She was cracking up. Especially when he said he was going to find me."

Yehuda, who said Trautwig was probably pushed "over the edge" after weeks of sniping from angry Islanders fans, wrote a blog post about the experience that was picked up by the website Deadspin. He added that in all fairness, Trautwig -- who confirmed the midnight ring-ding in a tweet -- couldn't have known he was calling someone's mother.

"But it makes a good story," Yehuda said.
