Denied! Rangers Fan Fighting StubHub Over $1 Stanley Cup Tickets

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- As the old saying goes, if it's too good to be true, it probably is.

One Rangers fan is finding that out the hard way after stumbling upon four tickets for Game 6 of the Stanley Cup finals in New York, priced at $1 apiece.

The grand total came to just over $12 on, including fees, for the seats in Section 111. Comparable tickets at Madison Square Garden are currently on the resale market for thousands of dollars -- each. Yep, each.

What could go wrong?

"This would be the opportunity of a lifetime," the angry fan, Kavi Arora, told

StubHub canceled the order the next day, offering a full refund -- all $12.20 -- and a $300 voucher for what it called an error by the seller, who meant to list the tickets at $1,000 apiece.

The sides are at a stalemate, according to, with Arora insisting on StubHub honoring its FanProtect Guarantee and the company saying it has offered "more than fair compensation."

"The FanProtect Guarantee protects the buyer and the seller," StubHub communications chief Alison Salcedo told

The story is proving to have legs, and maybe StubHub will cave. But first thing's first: the Rangers, down 1-0 in the best-of-seven series, have to get to a Game 6.

Stay tuned.
