Coyote Sightings On The Rise In Connecticut

WESTON, CT (WCBS 880) - Two towns in Connecticut are seeing an increase in coyote sightings.

Weston animal control officer Mark Harper says people need to be aware and especially careful with smaller pets.

There's been an uptick in both Weston and nearby Fairfield.

WCBS 880's Paul Murnane reports from Weston

Animal control says a thick snowpack may be forcing coyotes out on the roads and into driveways.

"About three weeks ago we spotted the first one then the second one in our backyard, and you never see two together," Harper told WCBS 880 reporter Paul Murnane.

They'll generally turn and run at the sight of people or if you make a noise but if the coyotes stand their ground, experts say you should back away and call animal control.
