(Episode 451; 15 minutes 43) The Rudd government in Australia has promised an education revolution. The implementation of a new national curriculum seems to be the centrepiece of this strategy, but there are more significant challenges facing the education sector.

On today's BTalk I talk to social commentator Mark McCrindle about how demographic trends are placing more pressure than ever on our schools. There will be more students, from a broader range of social backgrounds, with less taxable income. Add technological change and teacher shortages to the mix and it looks like the perfect storm is brewing.

So is there an answer to how the education sector can cope with these future pressures? Mark says part of the answer is to re-brand the profession. Find out more at the Education Future Forum (EFF).
