"Team America" trends on Twitter after death of Kim Jong Il

(CBS) - Trey Parker and Matt Stone may be a little "ronery" without Kim Jong Il to poke fun at.

Some of the most classic scenes from the 2004 film "Team America: World Police" involved the North Korean dictator, who died of a heart attack last week.

Kim Jong Il, N. Korean dictator, dies at 69

In an odd turn of events, the film began trending on Twitter in the wake of Kim death. Most of the comments joking lamenting that their only knowledge of Kim was as a puppet in the film "Team America: World Police."

"That awkard moment when you realize your knowledge of kim jong il is mostly formed of Team America references," tweeted @AliceLillibet. Awkward indeed, Alice. And scary.

Twitter users @SamTheGreater pondered, "Is it sad the only point of reference I have for Kim Jong il comes from Team America?" Why, yes, Sam-O. Yes, it is.

Perhaps entertainmebt bloggers @alwaysaroundb summed up Kim's Internet legacy best when they tweeted, "Kim Jong-il, star of Team America passes away."

Oh, Twitterverse, you crack me up.
