Syringe is threatened weapon of choice for female bank robber, say Colo. cops
(CBS) LONGMONT, Colo. - Police are accusing a 64-year-old woman of trying to rob a bank, and they say it's not the first time.
Her M.O. - allegedly, an AIDS infected syringe, CBS Denver reports.
Police say Datha Nation tried to hold up a Wells Fargo bank inside the Safeway market in Longmont Monday night, and that she was found sitting in her car in the parking lot outside the store. Police said they also found a note in the car indicating she was going to rob the bank, demanding money, and informing tellers not to use a dye pack, CBS Denver also reported.
Nation has allegedly targeted the same bank three times in the past two years.
"On the June 9 (2010) robbery she has a note that indicated that she wanted money and that she would infect the teller with AIDS if they didn't cooperate," Longwood police Cmdr. Jeff Satur said.
Authorities say a surveillance photo caught Nation in action. She's charged with two attempted robberies and one aggravated robbery.
Police are now looking to see if the same suspect is linked to other bank robberies with the same supposed letter-and-syringe M.O.
