Report: Knife found in Aaron Hernandez's prison cell

BOSTON -- Former NFL star and convicted killer Aaron Hernandez has been taken out of the general prison population after guards found contraband in his cell, reports CBS Boston.

Sources reportedly told the station that a knife was found in his cell at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center, a maximum security facility located north of Boston.

The former New England Patriots tight end is serving a life sentence for the June 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd, who was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancee.

It's not Hernandez's first incident since he was imprisoned. The station reports that he was indicted in an alleged jail assault after getting into a fight with another inmate.

The former New England Patriots' player is also facing charges in the deaths of two Boston men -- Safiro Furtado and Daniel de Abreu -- who were shot in July 2012 at a nightclub.

That murder trial is scheduled to begin on Jan. 19.
