Cops: Calif. woman seen tossing dog on viral video arrested

FAIRFIELD, Calif. -- Prosecutors say that investigators have arrested a Northern California woman accused of throwing a pug dog to the ground last month, reports CBS San Francisco.

Law enforcement arrested Brandi Chin Wednesday in Vallejo, according to a press release to the station. Police had submitted investigative reports and requested that charges be filed against her the day before.

Prosecutors then filed a felony animal cruelty and abuse charge against Chin, of Fairfield.

Chin had been captured in a surveillance camera video -- posted on Facebook Dec. 19 -- apparently throwing the dog to the ground after a dispute with her boyfriend. The pug, named Benny, is seen hitting the ground and rolling over several times.

Officials then took possession of the dog, who was given to the Solano County Humane Animal Services. Police said a veterinary exam later determined Benny was not hurt and was in good health, according to the station.

The police officers who searched for Chin after the incident thought she might have left Solano County.
