Obama's final news conference as president will be Wednesday

President Obama will hold the final news conference of his presidency next week, on Wednesday afternoon, the White House announced Friday, a week after Donald Trump’s first press conference as president-elect. Mr. Obama’s last news conference was in mid-December.

Earlier in the week, he’ll host the Chicago Cubs, the World Series champions at the White House, on Monday.

Also on Monday, he and First Lady Michelle Obama will visit Jobs Have Priority (JHP) Naylor Road Program, a 28-apartment family shelter in southeast Washington, DC.  There they will participate in a service project with residents in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, CBS News’ Mark Knoller reported, according to a senior White House official.  Last year, JHP Naylor Park Program sheltered 45 families that included 66 adults and 106 children. Twenty-seven adults were placed in employment, and 17 families moved into permanent housing. The play set initially installed by the First Family in 2009 on the South Grounds of the White House, near the Oval Office, was recently removed and donated to JHP Naylor Park Program where it will permanently reside.
