(CBS News) Miranda Lambert is one of the latest stars to be put on vocal rest.

The country singer postponed three shows slated to take place this week because of illness.

Doctors have advised Lambert to remain on vocal rest after overextending her voice.

"I'm so sorry to disappoint the fans that have already bought tickets to see me," Lambert wrote in a statement, posted on her website. "I'm taking care of my voice and I can't wait to get on the road again and bring you a hell of a show."

The three shows will be rescheduled for October. According to her website, Lambert's next tour date is scheduled for July 26, in Verona, N.Y.

Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine also had to postpone shows this week due to vocal issues.
