Kristen Bell, Ryan Hansen reprise "Veronica Mars" roles in spinoff

Veronica Mars is taking on another case.

Kristen Bell and the other cast members from the cult CW series will be returning to their roles in a new Web spinoff centered around their co-star, Ryan Hansen.

In a meta-heavy premise, "Play It Again, Dick" will follow a fictionalized version of Hansen as he tries to create a "Veronica Mars" spinoff centered on his character in the series, Dick Casablancas. The new spinoff, which comes from "Veronica Mars" creator and executive producer Rob Thomas, was first announced in May by the CW, which officially began promoting the series on Tuesday:

"It's hilarious," Bell wrote on her Twitter page Wednesday:

Thomas also announced the Web series on social media, while Hansen posed for a photo sitting on a park bench that advertises his character's P.I. company. Neither could resist the use of double entrendes in their posts:

In addition to Bell and Hansen, additional returning "Veronica Mars" cast members include Jason Dohring, Enrico Colantoni, Daran Norris, Percy Daggs III, Francis Capra, Kyle Gallner, Christopher B. Duncan, Ryan Devlin and Ken Marino, among others.

Much of the ensemble had already reunited for a 2014 film adaptation, which was partially funded by "Mars" fans, or "marshmallows," through Kickstarter donations.

"Play It Again Dick" is expected to air in weekly 10-minute installments on the CW Seed platform beginning in September.
