Key figure in sex ring silent about missing teen Brittney Wood

BAY MINETTE, Ala. - A woman sentenced to more than 200 years in prison as part of a family sex ring isn't saying whether she knows anything about the whereabouts of a victim whose disappearance helped break open the case.

Authorities in southwest Alabama say Wendy Holland has repeatedly refused to discuss the 2012 disappearance of 19-year-old Brittney Wood. And the 35-year-old woman did so again before being sentenced Thursday to what amounts to a life term on charges including sex abuse.

The refusal frustrates investigators trying to find Wood, who is Holland's niece. Holland and 10 other relatives and friends were arrested on multiple sex charges after the teen vanished.

Holland's lawyer won't say whether his client knows what happened to Wood.

The teen was last seen with Holland's husband, who died in what was ruled a suicide.
