(CBS) In her role as Olympic ambassador, Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, paid a visit to the Great Britain women's Olympic field hockey team Thursday as it trained at the London 2012 Olympic Park.

While there, the duchess, who captained the field hockey team at Marlborough College and also played at the University of St. Andrews, joined in for some practice moves. She was dressed appropriately in sneakers, exercise pants and a hooded sweatshirt.

The Duchess of Cambridge viewed the Olympic park as well, and met with members of both the men's and women's GB Hockey teams.

The duchess, her husband, Prince William, and his brother, Prince Harry, were among 27 people named earlier this year as official ambassadors for Britain's Olympic and Paralympic teams.

The 2012 Summer Games are being held July 27 to Aug. 12 in London.
