Kate dazzles on first red carpet since giving birth

Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, stepped out in a glittering gown for her first gala event since giving birth.

The new mom wore a floor-length, sequin-covered Jenny Packham dress as she joined Prince William at the inaugural Tusk Conservation Awards in London on Thursday. (See a full-length photo below.)

The event was organized by Tusk Trust, which raises funds for conservation projects in Africa. William, who is patron of the charity, will present two of the evening's awards -- the Prince William Award for Conservation in Africa, a lifetime achievement award, and the Tusk Conservation Award for Conservation in Africa, for a leading conservationist. He's also set to give a speech at the end of the ceremony.

William and Kate's night out -- without seven-week-old son Prince George -- came on the same day it was announced the prince is ending his military career to focus on royal duties and public service. It's also been said the family will be moving into their official residence in Kensington Palace in the next few weeks.
