SYLMAR, Calif. (CBS/KCAL) Authorities late Wednesday announced that they found Karina Valencia, the missing 13-year-old girl who police believed had gone off with someone she met on the Internet.
Her family told the Los Angeles Police Department that she has been missing since Saturday evening and was last seen at a friend's house at a birthday party.
Valencia was spotted around 7 p.m. in Sylmar.
Officers said as they walked pass a vehicle, they noticed a girl in the front seat trying to duck down and avoid eye contact. Based on her physical description, officers determined the girl was Valencia.
Valencia was taken into custody along with the car's driver, a 20-year-old male. Their relationship was not immediately known, nor was it known if he was the man she might have met online.
Police said the investigation is continuing.
It is unclear if the man will be charged with anything.
