Gotham Awards nominees include "Boyhood," "Birdman"

Nominations for the 2014 Gotham Independent Film Awards have been revealed, with "Boyhood" and "Birdman" among the films competing for best feature.

The Independent Filmmaker Project, which announced the nominations Thursday, calls the Gotham honors "one of the leading awards for independent film" and "the first major awards ceremony of the film season."

Richard Linklater's 12-years-in-the-making "Boyhood" received four nominations in all, and will compete against "Birdman," "The Grand Budapest Hotel," "Love is Strange" and "Under the Skin" for the best feature honor.
