LAYTON, Utah (CBS/AP) Ethan Stacy's body has been returned to his biological father in Virginia, where funeral services are planned for the 4-year-old boy whose badly beaten and disfigured body was found buried in a Utah canyon last week.

The Grundy Funeral Home says funeral services are planned for 1 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will follow at Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands, Va.

Utah police allege Ethan died of abuse and neglect by his mother, Stephanie Sloop, and stepfather, Nathanael Sloop, in Utah.

Both have been jailed on suspicion of aggravated murder, but neither of them have been charged.

The boys last days were nothing but constant torture and abuse, which included scolding and consuming excrement, according to police documents released late Wednesday and viewed by Crimesider. The boy's face had been mangled by a hammer.

The boy's biological father is Joe Stacy of Richlands, Va. After a nasty divorce, Stephanie Sloop was granted shared custody, even though Joe petitioned that she was unstable and had abandoned the youngster.

Stephanie Sloop brought the boy to Utah on May 1 for a summer visit. Ten days later, police recovered the boy's ruined body from a grave dug in the Utah mountains.
