On Wednesday, former fugitive crime boss James "Whitey" Bulger goes on trial in Boston on 19 counts, including murder, extortion, and money laundering.

Thursday sees the opening of the World Horror Convention . . . held not in Washington, as some might expect . . . but in New Orleans.

And Saturday is Queen Elizabeth's official birthday (not her actual one), celebrated with the Trooping the Colour ceremony on London's Horse Guards Parade.
