With a 8-2 record and four-straight wins in the Big 10, the Gopher football has been the feel-good story of the fall. Now in year three of the Coach Jerry Kill era, the perception of the Gopher football program is changing. Gopher linebacker Damien Wilson says fans have been shocked by the team's success. "They're getting used to it," Wilson said. "Everybody's excited around here."
Thanks to a four-game win streak, the Gopher football team cracked the national rankings, as Minnesota is now slated No. 25 in the Coaches Poll. The last time the Gophers rattled off four-straight Big Ten victories was 1973, and after Saturday's 24-10 victory over Penn State, the program has finally caught the attention of the national landscape.
David Cobb carried 27 times for 139 yards and a touchdown, and Minnesota held Penn State scoreless over the final 33-plus minutes to grind out a 24-10 victory on Saturday, the fourth in a row for the Golden Gophers.
