A bus carrying a minor league team affiliated with the Minnesota Twins was involved in a wrong-way interstate crash in Florida that killed the driver of the other car. Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Dylan Bryan says no one on the Fort Myers Twins bus was injured in the crash that occurred about 4:25 a.m. Tuesday near Jacksonville.
Max Knutson gave up only four hits as Mounds View shut out Rocori of Cold Spring 8-0 for the Class 3A state championship at Target Field on Monday. Knutson struck out nine Spartan batters and yielded only one base on balls during the seven-inning game. He threw 90 pitches, 60 for strikes. The Mustangs (20-6) tagged three different Rocori pitchers for 14 hits, plus getting four walks.
The Minnesota Wild have re-signed defenseman Marco Scandella to a two-year contract.
Joey Hyde pitched a complete game to guide the Kasson-Mantorville Komets to an 8-1 victory over the Perham Yellowjackets in the Class 2A state championship at Target Field on Monday. Hyde scattered five singles over seven innings while striking out five, letting in the lone run in the second. Nine different players had at least one hit for the Komets (25-6)
The Minnesota Timberwolves are working out another group of draft prospects. Their guests on Monday afternoon included a player that president of basketball operations Flip Saunders is quite familiar with: former Gophers standout Trevor Mbakwe.

Minnesota Wild goalie Josh Harding won a major NHL Award Friday - the Masterton Trophy. It's a direct result of the way he's approached his battle with multiple sclerosis (MS), and the way he's inspired others as a result. When Josh Harding was told he had MS last fall, one of the hardest parts was telling other people. "It was tough. I didn't know how to do it, I didn't know how everybody would kind of view me after that. But I'm glad that I did," Harding said.
The stage is set for Monday's high school baseball state title games at Target Field. But believe it or not, winning a state championship wouldn't be the most amazing thing BOLD pitcher Logan Sandgren has the chance to accomplish. Talking about a no-hitter might be taboo, but if you're Logan, thinking about one is pretty much standard. "Everyone wants to throw a no-hitter. It's like a pitcher's dream, besides a perfect game," Sandgren said.
