Young Readers Author Hautman Wins Minn. Book Award
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Young readers author Pete Hautman has won a Minnesota Book Award for "Blank Confession," about a new kid in town who confesses to a murder.
Hautman was among winners honored Saturday night at the 23nd annual Minnesota Book Awards in St. Paul. Hautman's books include "Godless," which won a National Book Award.
Duluth-Superior magazine editor-in-chief Wendy Webb won for "The Tale of Halcyon Crane," about a woman who discovers dark family secrets.
Graphic designer Michael Hall won the award for children's literature for "My Heart Is Like a Zoo," a picture book featuring 20 animals created out of heart shapes.
Author Michael Nordskog and photographer Aaron W. Hautala won for their commemoration of the Finnish sauna in the northwoods.
