Twin Cities Bars Offering Super Bowl Specials To Attract Football Fans
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Despite the forecast in parts of Minnesota, football fans say they're ready for Super Bowl 50.
No matter where you watch it, fans are finding ways for pregame fun. A lot of people want to stay at home to watch the Big Game, but it turns out that's exactly the reason you might want to go out.
At Stanley's Northeast Bar Room in Minneapolis, the specials start early.
"We have a signature bloody mary called Stanleys mary that's kind of our flagship weekend drink," bartender Steven Fremling said.
The game doesn't kick off until 5:30 p.m., but Stanley's will start serving drinks at 10 a.m. Sunday, with $2 off signature mimosas and bloody marys, as well as some food and drinks during regular happy hour. They also have a chance to win a signed Cordarrelle Patterson Vikings jersey.
In downtown Minneapolis, the Pourhouse offers tons of TV's and even a 25-foot projector screen -- most people won't get that at home.
"Anyone that doesn't really want to host a party -- doesn't want to do the cleaning, the cooking -- that's what we're here for," Pourhouse manager Carissa Utsch said.
They'll also serve a special game-day menu, with wings, flatbreads and a few other popular items.
Starting a half hour before kick-off, Wild Onion along St. Paul's Grand Avenue offers many of the same specials that sell fast during Vikings games, including a $6.99 burger special.
But General Manager Nick Closmore says he's expecting a smaller crowd for the Super Bowl -- meaning the same deals, without the wait.
All of the restaurants and bars told us they're offering big specials like they would during Vikings games but the wait times won't be as long -- something to consider maybe for even part of the day.
