Target Field Holds Hiring Event In Anticipation Of Full Reopening

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - Target Field is preparing to slowly bring back more fans to the ballpark, hoping to hit full capacity, which is 40,000 fans, by early July.

The first wave of more fans will be at the home game this Friday. In order to bring back more fans, the ballpark needs more staff to be able to reopen all its concessions and retail stands.

Delaware North is the exclusive food, drink and retail operator for the Twins and they are looking to hire 200-300 more jobs for the rest of the 2021 baseball season. The company is looking to hire cashiers, retail, runners, culinary and servers.

They are having in-person, on-the-spot hiring events at Target Field over the course of the next month:
5/20: 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.
6/1: 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.
6/5: 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
6/15: 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.
6/16: 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.

At the latest hiring event on Wednesday, 18-year-old Cherie Smith snagged a concessions position.

"I just wanted to get more work experience," said Smith, who has never been to a Twins game before, "I'm pretty excited to see what it's like and experience those things."

A full capacity stadium again is more appealing for Alex Lindeke, who was hired Wednesday for a sever position in one of the ballpark restaurants.

"I think that it will get really busy and be a good opportunity to make some good money," said Lindeke, "I like working in restaurants because you get to be around excited and happy people, and I think it'll be at another level at a place like this."

These positions come with the benefits of a flexible schedule, making $14/hour. There is also a $200 referral bonus and a $100 signing bonus for the person who is referred. If any non-profit 501c3 organization wants to have their staff volunteer at a minimum of 10 home games this season, they can earn a $12,000 minimum donation to their organization.

"We do have some preferred parking rates with the local ramps so that makes it a lot easier to get in and out of the ballpark," said Pete Strike, the general manager of Delaware North.

You can also apply for these openings anytime online.
